“Bozhychi” folk ensemble, founded in 1999, is a well-known Ukrainian vocal band that performs traditional vocal music of Eastern Ukraine in an authentic way. Some participants of “Bozhychi” are also interested in performing traditional dance music and studying and teaching traditional rural dances from the XX century. In 2005, “Bozhychi” founded a school of traditional dances – the first club of social folk dances in Ukraine. Musicians of Bozhychi often travel to villages for field work and practice together with village musicians to study and elaborate their understanding of traditional music and rhythmics.
