Duo Jansen/Jüssi

(Norway/Estonia)

Johanna-Adele Jüssi and Jo Einar Jansen are two violinists whos playing encompasses the depth of nordic folk music. They play authentically, while also creating their own melodies on the base of their regard for tradition. Johanna-Adele’s studies in Viljandi (Estonia), Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway have introduced her to a myriad of musicians. Amongst those, she has chosen the the realest and most honest players as ones to look up to – musicians after whom it feels good both to play and dance. Johanna admits that traditional music is often, in it’s core, dance music, and so she finds her way to Sabatants time and time again – to play for dancers who are also sensitive listeners, who engage in both serious discussions and joyous dancing. With her partner in music and life, Jo Einar, they are usually situated right above the Polar line in Northern Norway, where they teach trolls in all sizes traditional violin playing. To Sabatants, they bring both Estonian and Norwegian tunes, among them Innherred dance music from Central Norway.
