Workshop – Estonian labajalg
We will take on labajalg dance in research-based manner – steps, holds, movement patterns and everything else that we know about this dance. Can we actually talk about only one dance? We will explore and discuss, try different and rehearse more complicated ways for dancing labajalg. You can come to the workshop with your partner or find a partner on the spot, but you should be ready for couple dance for sure.
Sille Kapper-Tiisler is researcher and teacher of traditional and folk dance, associate professor of Baltic Film, Media and Arts School of Tallinn University and artistic leader of Estonian Folklore Society Leigarid. As a researcher her focus is historic and modern revelations of traditional dance and all the many and colorful questions about passing on traditions to next generations.
