Folklore group “Röntyskä” functions in association with the Society of Ingian Finns in Tartu. The word “röntyskä”, which the group has chosen as their name, signifies a specific type of North-Ingrian singing-dance. Over the course of last decades, we have learned and studied the dance traditions of Ingria, sharing them with interested audiences during workshops and performances. Aside from dancing and singing, we have made our own traditional costumes and traced the footsteps of our ancestors all the way to Ingrian villages. We try to be active in the social life of local ingrian community as much as we can. At the moment, the group is composed of dancers with direct Ingrian heritage, as well as friends and enthusiasts who have fallen in love with the traditions and have joined in, sharing their time and joy of dancing. It is always better to dance and play in a slightly bigger crowd!
